Ionic Air Purifier. Air Ionizers , Negative Ion Purifiers. What are they?

Today we tackle this world of Ionization. Everyone has there own ways of describing the word "Ion" But all in all, they are all the same...Almost the same you'll see why i said "almost the same" in a few.

Call it Ionic Air Purifier, Air Ionizers, Negative Ion Purifier, Machine that produces negative ions or even the most berserk we have seen to date was  "Machine that gives me happy feeling and cleans air" and " negative attaching allergens in air"

Yes, those too are  Air Ionizers .... we will assume they are

I know you ask yourself

are ionizers good for me?

Do air ionizers really work, especially against smoke, smells and odors?

You wonder if you need those air purifiers with some sophisticated science technology with outrageous claims.. but you know us here at Purified we like to keep it simple and straight.

Shall we begin?

How Air IXDonizers work? What is ionic air purification?

A typical air purifier would use fans or filters to help remove contaminants and purify the air. In the case of air ionizers, they rely on the use of electrically charged air molecules, or ions, to do the same job.

In simple terms ...

An air ionizer is a device that uses high voltage electricity to create negative ions and electrically charge the air molecules.

Every room is filled with positively charged particles, which could be made up of dust, microbes, odors, airborne bacteria or illnesses, smoke or other allergens. Some small floating particles like dust and pollen can sometimes be noticed in a ray of light shining through a window into a room. An air purifier ionizer is designed to target these particles that float in the air. These  particles are positively charged and constantly repel each other. For example, if you ever took two magnets and tried to put their positive poles together, you would immediately observe that they strongly repel each other. This same type of repelling action keeps small particles suspended in the air.Air ionizers emits negatively charged particles that cause some particles take on a negative charge.  Instead of using a fan to pull in the polluted air into a physical air filter, the standalone air ionizer uses electricity to emit the cloud of negative ions (or anions) to electrically charge the air molecules. As a result, the negative ions attracts the airborne particles, the joint union is then too heavy to float in the air and they fall to the ground. Once they’re no longer airborne, these particles can be vacuumed up, or dusted off of furniture and raised surfaces.

Why Choose An Air Ionizer Purifier. Are ionic air purifiers effective?

Unlike the True HEPA filter, which is capable of dealing with 99.97% of all particles down to 0.3 microns in size, the air ionizer can reduce the size of the allergens to as small as 0.1 microns. Microns, which are one-millionth of a meter, are how particles are measured.

Ionic purifiers are effective at eliminating even microscopic particles from the air, including bacteria, mold, viruses, volatile organic compounds known as VOCs, dust, smoke, and allergens.

Because air ionizers have no filter or motor, they are quiet in operation. The design is simple so negatively charged ions are released with the simple switch of the “on” button.

Perhaps the best part of ionic purifiers is that they are inexpensive to own and operate. Without a fan or motor, they use little energy. Without a filter to replace, they involve little to no maintenance costs.

Are Ionizers Safe? Are ionic air purifiers bad for you?

The answer is not clearly yes or no.

Most ionic air purifiers (ionizers) are completely safe and not bad for your health. They emit negative ions into the air as a way to clean it which is harmless to you. They’re often confused with ozone generators which emit high levels of ozone that can be bad for health. In short, the air ionizer is really great for you if it meets the standard of California Air Resources Board (CARB) to only have ozone emission concentration less than 0.05 parts per million (ppm) and the US government considers 0.08 ppm as being safe.

Purified02 Ionic - Ozone Air Purifier produces 0.04 parts per million making it a safe option as an ionizer.

What are the Downside of Air Ionizers VS HEPA Air Purifier

Yes, just as HEPA filters that don't tell you that unless they come with an anti-microbial coating, HEPA filters can harbor bacteria and mold, acting as a breeding ground for further contaminants. They also may not efficiently filter out contaminants under .3 microns, like viruses, smoke, and fumes, unless they combine carbon and microbial filters which results in more $$$$$

For Air Ionizers that produce unwanted amount of ozone which is not the type of ozone generator produces, the amount of ozone from the air ionizer can irritate asthma or many other breathing issues.

If you don’t know, or if you experience the side effect from using an air ionizer, you should turn this ionic function off as soon as possible.
